Begin your blog post with "Starting today I will..."

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 02, 2007:

YESSS!!!  It make perfect sense!  Starting today I wil do something I would normally avoid doing out of fear.   No matter how awkward or uncomfortable.  It could be as simple as a phone call I've been meaning to make.

DAMN!  The possibilities are endless [big smile].

Great reflective question -- I thought about it all day.  Glad it's the one that hit closest to home.

What section of the newspaper do you read first?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 04, 2007:

Entertainment section on Thursdays.

Other than that, I am not a big fan of reading the newspaper.   Focusing on all the shit that's happening locally, nationally, or internationally is not really where I like my thoughts to be on any given day.

If you could design a religion, what would it look like?

Posted on May 8th, 2007 by Galynne : Take What You Need Galynne
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 08, 2007:

First things first -- get rid of the word RELIGION. Replace with SEARCH FOR YOUR OWN TRUTH!

Afterall, who knows more about your heart than you?

Life is a smorgasboard of ideas, opinions, beliefs, attitudes, experiences, and lessons.  Take what you need to live a happy health life, and leave the rest!

True

always telling people
"to thine own self be true"
because when you're true to yourself
you're true to all of those around you

well I know for a fact

it's much easier to say
distractions all around us
being pulled every which way

sometimes - it's easier
to do what everyone else is telling you to do
but you can't convince me
they know more about your heart than you do
--who could know more than you?

well the story goes both ways

it's not for me to tell you how to live your life
it doesn't matter if I'm a mother,
a sister,
a daughter,
a friend,
or a wife

well I know for a fact

you weren't to born to live your life through my eyes
and all I can do
is love you

love you without compromise

sometimes - it's easier

to do what everyone else is telling you to do
but you can't convince me
they know more about your heart than you do
--who could know more than you?

to thine own self be true

who could know more than you
to thine own self be true

If you could design a school, what would it be like?

Posted on May 11th, 2007 by Galynne : Take What You Need Galynne
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 11, 2007:

This is by far my favorite reflective question.

My response would take more than a day to consider answering.  So I'm gong to sit back, relax, and embrace the collaborative ideas of the rest of those participating.

For the record -  Questions and Reflections is my favorite pat of the day.  It has heightened my awareness to who I am -- as well as how many like-minded souls are a part of this circle.

I'm grateful to be a part of this amazing circle of cool

If you could design a holiday, what would it be?

Posted on May 14th, 2007 by Galynne : Take What You Need Galynne
Namaste Day!   What could be better than a universal day where all thoughts were based on honoring the goodness, beauty, love, truth that is within each of us?

No gifts, no hallmark card s or flowers, no money spent, no guilt for not calling someone -just simple honor for every person we come in contact with.

Namaste

I would encourage people to celebrate Namaste Day in place of holiday they feel has lost its true essence.  The holidays that have become commercialized and oversensationalized.  Christmas, Easter, Mother's day, Father's Day, New Years Day.....

The ritual?  Saying "namaste" and understanding it's essence of meaning:

"I honor the Spirit in you which is also in me".

"I honor the place in you in which the entire Universe dwells,

"I honor the place in you which is of Love, of Truth, of Light and of Peace, When you are in that place in you, and I am in that place in me, we are One."

"I salute the God within you."

"I recognize that we are all equal."

"The entire universe resides within you."

"The divine light in me salutes the divine light in you."

"Your spirit and my spirit are ONE."

What qualities do you seek in a partner?

Posted on May 15th, 2007 by Galynne : Take What You Need Galynne
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 15, 2007:

How do you guys DO that?  Do you have a direct line into my thoughts?  [haha]  This is yet another reflection that I was just talking about yesterday with my fiance.

I'm getting married in about 7 weeks.  Mark illuminates my soul.   He posesses all of the qualities I've ever dreamed to find in a man - but never expected to find the one who has every quality.

Looking back I realized I totally manifested Mark into my life long before I ever met him.  All I knew is refused to settle for anything less than the best person I was worthy of having.   I was on a quest for the best of the best.

There are too many beautiful characteristics to list.   I wrote a song about it tho' if you care to listen :-)

Every Little Part

It's almost evening and it won't be long

Until I'm in your arms and we're listenin' to our favorite songs

People ask me what it is I love about you and I say

Everything, yeah everything

There's something about the way you love me baby

That really turns me on - yeah it really turns me on

The most beautiful thing I've ever done

Is loving you, the way I do

It comes from every little bit of my heart

Not just the bottom part

No it's every little, every little part

It's almost morning and light fills the room

And I can't help but smile as my heart fills up with gratitude

Loving you is the perfect start to every day

In every way, yeah every way

There's something about the way you love me baby

That really turns me on - yeah it really turns me on

The most beautiful thing I've ever done

Is loving you, the way I do

It comes from every little bit of my heart

Not just the bottom part

No it's every little, every little part

What purpose does money serve in your life?

Posted on May 17th, 2007 by Galynne : Take What You Need Galynne
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 17, 2007:

It's one small piece of the bigger picture.  It doesn't define me (phew, I'm grateful for THAT).

Most of my adult life I've been sucked into the 'society generated illusion'  that money defines who we are and our level of success.

In just two weeks, I am walking away from the corporate world in order to be true to my dreams and aspirations.  When I tell people (especially my family)  they are quick to judge. They think I'm crazy because  I'm giving up a nice salary,  having my insurance paid for, 401(k) contributions...etc...    I've been told I am being irresponsible and I should let go of all this "nonsense" about writing books, writing songs, playing music.    It makes me SMILE - becuase, in the end, it makes the story even sweeter.

As I move toward my future - I see it filled with the promise of prosperity and abundance.  But there is no dollar amount attached to that promise.  All I know is I am worthy of all the goodness that comes my way, in whatever form that is.   I embrace that thought.

There will be bills to pay, and money needed for all the day to day costs of living.  There will advertising,  promotions and marketing fees.  There will be insurance, taxes, yada yada yada....  I welcome it all!

So to finally answer the question on what purpose money serves in my life:

It's one small piece of the larger picture.  I don't stress about money.  I am convinced that I will be blessed with all I need as I move closer to my pupose in life.

How might you start to resolve a current conflict in your life?

Posted on May 18th, 2007 by Galynne : Take What You Need Galynne
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 18, 2007:

The majority of my conflicts are those I create for myself.  It's what is looming around assuming that messes me up.   Often times I spend too much time assuming what others are assuming about me.  HUH??  My greatest challenge to overcome is not worrying about what others think.  A lot of times I create realities that are soooo far from the truth.

The good news is I've already started to resolve this internal conflict.  I have made a lot of progress with resolving this assuming thing.  It started with the concept that I own my own shit.  No matter what -- I own my own thoughts, feelings, and reactions.

The BETTER news is ....  lasting and meaningful change starts on the inside and works it way out.  So, until I've really "licked this" I will be met with challenges.  How else can I get good at something if don't get the opportunity to practice.

Soooo, ummm, what do you think of me NOW?

No.

WAIT!

Where Where did your name come from?

Posted on May 21st, 2007 by Galynne : Take What You Need Galynne
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 21, 2007:

Galynne is the name - loving life is my game.

Prounounce GAY-LIN.  Emphasis on both syllables.  (Phew - I need a little "speaker thingy" like zaadz has now)

Anyway .....

I was named after my dad whose name is Gaylon, which means - calm, tranquil.

The last 15 years my name has been Galynne Goodwill (cool, huh?).   I am told that my name fits me perfectly.

In about 6 weeks I will be marrying Mark Riggenbach.  We have been going back and forth on what I should do for my married name.  As a singer/songwriter and author Galynne Goodwill has a great ring.  But it's my ex-husband's name.

For me - it's an honor to take Mark's last name.  It's like a token of love and gratitude - an act that unites us.

Well, what do you all think?  What name(s) should I take on my wedding day?

Galynne Goodwill?

Galynne Riggenbach?

GG Riggenbach?

or just plain Galynne?

Resiliency: the ability to bounce back from adversity.

To view every set back as temporary.

When you partner the word resiliency with gratitude and tenacity you have a person who is on a fast track to all of their hopes and dreams.

What do you say when you talk to yourself?

Posted on May 31st, 2007 by Galynne : Take What You Need Galynne
Awesome question--- it made me giggle.  I say ALL KINDS OF STUFF to myself!!!    I not only talk to myself but I listen too.  Meaning -- when my self talk is negative or mean (an old habit),   Listening (as an observer) has eliminated a lot of depression in my life.   When experiencing depression it was always coupled with horrendous self-talk: "I hate my life" or "I am so stupid".  Feelings of worthlessness.   So, now I listen, adjust, and make corrections in how I talk to myself.

Thanks for asking :-)

Galynne
