Where Where did your name come from?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 21, 2007:
Galynne is the name - loving life is my game.
Prounounce GAY-LIN. Emphasis on both syllables. (Phew - I need a little "speaker thingy" like zaadz has now)
Anyway .....
I was named after my dad whose name is Gaylon, which means - calm, tranquil.
The last 15 years my name has been Galynne Goodwill (cool, huh?). I am told that my name fits me perfectly.
In about 6 weeks I will be marrying Mark Riggenbach. We have been going back and forth on what I should do for my married name. As a singer/songwriter and author Galynne Goodwill has a great ring. But it's my ex-husband's name.
For me - it's an honor to take Mark's last name. It's like a token of love and gratitude - an act that unites us.
Well, what do you all think? What name(s) should I take on my wedding day?
Galynne Goodwill?
Galynne Riggenbach?
GG Riggenbach?
or just plain Galynne?

Well..one name worked for Cher and Madonna! Why can't you have a stage name and a regular name, like most famous people do….you ARE famous( in the NOW)
Sing it out Galynne…loud and clear!
Gotta go get my Galynne tix to see you perform at Tanglewoods…in the Bershires…
:)
Haha…Yeah! Awesome!!
It is galynne.com - so I'm safe either way.
And my book is under takewhatyouneed.com
Later, Lovely Alice!
I would have to say “Galynne”
What’s with the two name rule anyhow…
Silly things…
Except for form filling, and crap like that. That would be a pain.
I think you should give up Goodwill ~ only because it’s not yours really.
But, perhaps it is a gift. Perception is a bitch, eh? haaaaaa
You will forever be a part of the Riggenbach clan…and hey, it has “bach” in it…
and Riggen is like Giggen…
So “what would Mark do”
Would HE change his name? and why the hell is it only a women name thingy.
ahhhh so what would HE be willing to do???
that is the question!

I agree with both. Who says we have to have anyone's last name, or a last name at all? Why can't we be just who we are, Anna, Galynne, Modonna, Pink? Familial history/lineage, often seems less and less important, family is who you're with, who you relate to, who you love and who loves you. I've bee thinking of just going by my first name. Or my nickname, Steel. My last name, Mather, has too much negativity for me. I hope you pick Gaylynne and personally, if you want his last name because that settles well in your heart, then do that.
How'd the move go? going?
